Alun Heini Brown was born in 1974 in Greater Manchester, England - of Welsh and Swiss parents - and grew up in New Mills, Derbyshire.
He has been writing creatively since the age of about eight, and stubbornly refusing to finish any one idea before moving on to the next (until Quin's Abduction, that is).
After receiving an unofficial First Class degree in Excessive Partying and Incorrigable Laziness at university in the mid-1990s, he spent the following several years enthusiastically experimenting with underachievement and discovering who he wasn't by painstaking process of elimination.
Somehow, he clawed his way into some semblance of self-ownership and peace of mind. This involved living and working in seven different countries on three continents and accumulating enough fun, amazing, painful or just plain bizarre experiences and perspectives to start seriously re-examining the world and his place in it (a process that continues to this day).
He feels vaguely ridiculous writing about himself in the 3rd person like this.
